General Info

Tucked away in Lanark ML11 8NZ, United Kingdom, Hickety Pickety Tea Room is the kind of cozy tea house that feels instantly welcoming the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, with the comforting charm you’d expect from a traditional tea room. Whether you’re dropping by for a casual breakfast, a light lunch, or a sweet afternoon treat, the experience here feels simple, warm, and refreshingly unpretentious.

One of the things that stands out when browsing the menu is how comforting and satisfying the dishes are. On my visit, the Waffles Bacon Stack and Maple Syrup immediately caught my attention. It’s a generous plate where crispy bacon meets fluffy waffles, finished with maple syrup that ties everything together. The balance of sweet and savory makes it one of those meals you’ll remember long after leaving the table.

For something more classic, the Crispy Bacon and Eggs delivers exactly what you hope for from a good breakfast plate. The bacon is perfectly crisp, and the eggs are cooked just right. It’s a straightforward dish, but the quality and care in preparation make it stand out on the menu. Pairing it with a Chocolate Milkshake makes the experience even better. Thick, smooth, and rich in flavor, the milkshake feels like a nostalgic treat that complements the hearty food perfectly.

If you’re stopping by for a lighter bite, the Salmon and Cream Cheese Sandwich is a great choice. The flavors are fresh and balanced, with creamy cheese and delicate salmon layered into a satisfying sandwich that works well for lunch or a mid-day break. It’s the kind of option that keeps the menu versatile while still fitting the relaxed tea house style.

Another thing that makes Hickety Pickety Tea Room appealing is how convenient the services are for visitors. Guests can comfortably enjoy a dine-in experience in the welcoming space, or choose delivery if they’d rather enjoy the food at home. The tea room also offers a wheelchair accessible parking lot, making it easier for everyone to visit. When it comes to payment, the process is quick and modern with debit cards and NFC mobile payments accepted.

Overall, the tea room feels like a place locals would happily recommend. The combination of comforting food, friendly service, and thoughtful accessibility makes it easy to see why people enjoy spending time here. From breakfast favorites to satisfying sandwiches and indulgent milkshakes, the menu offers something for nearly every kind of visit, and the inviting setting makes each stop feel relaxed and genuine.

“ Been here a number of times and can't fault it. Hickety Pickety is set in an old farm building, which is visually stunning and welcoming. There is plenty of parking and even a little area to walk your dog. Yes our furry friends are welcome. Inside the building is equally nice and well appointed. We book before we go, which is advisable, as it can get busy. We are always greeted with a smile and shown to our table. Be aware this is not your usual tearoom with chips, dips and rolls on sausage, but a menu, that is very seasonal and just a bit different...in all the right ways. Even the drinks menu is great. With that the food is delicious and all freshly made, so you won't be disappointed.....don't forget the cakes. Mmmmm The staff are very attentive and chatty, with nothing being a bother. Overall I would highly recommend Hickety Pickety to anyone. Again the best advice is pre-book so you aren't disappointed. ”

“ Had a lovely lunch with my mum and my daughter here. Beautiful decor, cracking menu, (something for everyone) and the cakes are huge and delicious. Good value for money. Friendly, young staff, and very prompt service. Nothing too much trouble at all. Looking forward to my next visit! ”

“ The high tea was absolutely fantastic, blew my mum away with the quality and selection. Arguably some of the best scones we have ever tasted. Coffee and service was brilliant. Highly recommend. ”

“ We stopped by for the lunch menu at Hickety Pickety Tea Room and absolutely loved it. I had the shredded duck burger with hoisin sauce, cucumber, and a fried egg—packed with flavour and beautifully presented, served with a fresh side salad. My companion had a ham hock ciabatta with a barbecue sweet pickle chutney —really rich and satisfying, paired with nachos, a tangy coleslaw, and a fresh salad. Everything tasted homemade with great attention to detail, bold flavours, and a cosy setting—definitely one of the best lunch spots we’ve tried recently. Highly recommended! ”

“ Cannot belive I live so close and have taken so long to visit. The tea room is welcoming and cosy.... despite the cavernous ceiling! The staff are friendly and attentive. Menu is not vast and that is a good thing. Specials on the board with a choice of soup. Soup servings were plentiful with big bits of bread! We both chose the special and can I just say the prawn cocktail was tasty and never ending. Had to help finish ! The ciabatta with pastrami, gherkins and Jack cheese was really tasty. Served with just enough salad and crips, and just the right amount of coleslaw. Yummy. I would say it was good value, sure don't think I need any dinner now.... my 1st visit won't be my last and noticed a few Happy Alice wax melts available to purchase too - fun! ”
